Linking Production Lines to Packaging Zone for Douwe Egberts

Achieving a simple and efficient product flow is crucial in every production environment. For our client Douwe Egberts, a coffee manufacturer based in Grimbergen, we facilitated the integration of their production lines with the packaging zone. The 8 coffee production lines are connected to 8 packaging machines and relocated to a separate zone to minimize forklift traffic, including packaging material and pallet handling.

Opting for vertical transport, individual packages are lifted to a height of 4 metres, where they are conveyed to the box machines via our table top conveyors. This installation is ceiling-mounted. After packaging, a loop system transports the boxes to a gantry robot, provided by a machine builder, which sorts and stacks all boxes onto pallets. Subsequently, our roller conveyors handle the further transportation of the pallets.

This setup has optimized production processes, increasing production output and saving costs. Similar projects have also been executed for transporting and palletizing frozen meals, plastic bottles, jerry cans, as well as packaging for raisins, ice cream, cheese, and more.
